{"id":249,"date":"2005-06-30T17:57:43","date_gmt":"2005-06-30T16:57:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hopemason.net\/massimo\/?page_id=249"},"modified":"2005-08-22T22:42:41","modified_gmt":"2005-08-22T21:42:41","slug":"special-children","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.hopemason.net\/massimo\/special-children\/","title":{"rendered":"Special Children &#8211; a poem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>by Maria Leonard (and published with her permission)<br \/>\nCare Assistant at The Children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Trust<\/em><\/p>\n<p>These are children whom we love,<br \/>\nfor all their changing needs<br \/>\nfrom changing bums to playing with,<br \/>\nAnd all their special feeds.<br \/>\nThese children are individuals,<br \/>\nThey\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re different every one<br \/>\nAnd \u00e2\u20ac\u02dccause the staff are much the same,<br \/>\nUnloved ones there are none.<\/p>\n<p>These children may be different<br \/>\nfrom others that we know,<br \/>\nBut still they have their feelings too,<br \/>\nAnd theses they often show.<br \/>\nThese children are so very sweet,<br \/>\nThey\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re soft and gentle too,<br \/>\nAnd if you show them that you care<br \/>\nThey\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll give something back to you.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps they cannot speak to you,<br \/>\nIt doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t mean they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re dumb<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u02dcCause they can talk in other ways<br \/>\nEven just moving a thumb.<br \/>\nThey also use their faces<br \/>\nTo express the way they feel,<br \/>\nThey also cry and scream sometimes<br \/>\nLike when they want a meal.<\/p>\n<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m going to close this little rhyme<br \/>\nAnd just before I end<br \/>\nI\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve got a message from my heart,<br \/>\nThat I would like to send.<br \/>\nI love these children very much<br \/>\nI love their special ways,<br \/>\nI hope to get to know them more,<br \/>\nTo know what each one says:<br \/>\nSo I can give them all they need<br \/>\nAnd make them feel the best,<br \/>\nSo when they go into the world<br \/>\nThey\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be just like the rest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Maria Leonard (and published with her permission) Care Assistant at The Children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Trust These are children whom we love, for all their changing needs from changing bums to playing with, And all their special feeds.
