Settling into life with a newborn

Since the 18th November life has been rather taken up with false labour alerts and trips to the hospital – there never is a dull moment in the Hope-Mason household! On 19th November (Friday) Massimo had the second half of his flu jab, so hopefully this year he may be a little more protected from the various strains of flu that float around and that last year kept him in hospital nearly all winter. It has to be said that he is a brave little soldier and doesn’t actually cry for very long after a jab, but he did give poor Sara, the nurse, a very dirty look!

On Saturday, Massimo, Justin and I had a lovely day “hanging out” together, aware that this was probably going to be one of the last weekends when it would be just the three of us. As you can see we took some lovely photos of Massimo sitting really well. He is really getting good at it, but we still need to practice! In fact I have so many photos to show you that I’ll probably bore you to tears writing enough to pad them out! Continue reading “Settling into life with a newborn”

Massimo’s brother is here

The little chapAt 4.48 am on 23rd November 2004, Massimo’s brother entered the world, weighing 3.12 kgs (6 lbs 14 oz). He was born with the umbilical cord around his neck and was a rather blue colour at first, but a little oxygen helped bring him round quickly and he has suffered no side effects. Unfortunately we have yet to decide on a name!

Eight weeks and still counting…

Since I last wrote on 6th November nothing terribly exciting has happened. We had a quiet Saturday, Jemma had decided to stay in London for the weekend and we didn’t do very much. On Sunday we went to Grandpa and Mal’s for Sunday lunch whilst Jemma looked after the dogs at home and rearranged her room to her satisfaction. Max had a lovely day in the countryside and Justin and I enjoyed being pampered for the day. I am beginning to be too large for much movement although since that weekend the baby has “dropped” which has made me a little more comfortable and given me more lung capacity but made my walk a definite waddle! Dish Dash and another week

Max in the highchairSince we last wrote last Wednesday we have had the Dish Dash To The Max charity lunch. Other than the fact that although Massimo was there he decided to have a complete grump the whole time and only smiled after he left the restaurant, the event went off without a hitch and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who participated. Thank you to the restaurant for lovely food and for looking after us so well. The amount of money raised wasn’t a huge amount, but as every penny counts, so will all of these.
